Whether you have just moved into a new property or if you have been using a fire for many years, a chimney inspection is essential in reassuring you that the chimney is safe to use.
I offer comprehensive chimney inspections using a modern HD camera to detect any potential issues and recommend the best solutions. The inspection will check the integrity of the chimney or flue liner as well as looking for potential obstructions such as birds nests or fallen masonry and debris. Images can be viewed by the customer to see exactly what is going on within their chimney.
During the Spring and Summer months, when your fire is not in use, you can find birds have taken a liking to your chimney or flue and decided to set up home!
This can cause serious problems, blocking your chimney and as such preventing harmful fire gases exiting efficiently and rendering your fire unusable.
Nests within chimneys can prove to be quite considerable in size, requiring specialist tools used in conjunction with HD camera to remove followed by a full sweep to ensure a thoroughly clear chimney.

Frequency will depend on a number of factors which include the type of fuel used, appliance, duration of use, moisture content of wood fuel, and the type of chimney you have.
As a guide, your chimney should be swept at least twice a year when burning wood and at least once a year when burning smokeless fuels.
Some of the signs that your chimney needs cleaning include: a strong, unpleasant odor coming from your fireplace or chimney, smoke entering your home when you light a fire, a buildup of soot or creosote, and a visible accumulation of debris or blockage in the chimney. If you notice any of these signs, it's important to have your chimney cleaned as soon as possible to prevent potential hazards.
As a fully trained Chimney Sweep, I am meticulous in my approach and conscious of making as little mess as possible, using specialist sheets and vacuum to contain all soot and debris resulting from the thorough chimney sweeping process.
There are exceptional circumstances e.g. if a chimney may be blocked with a birds nest, which makes it difficult to guarantee that no mess will be made, but every effort is made to be mess free and thorough cleaning of the area will be carried out before leaving your property to ensure I leave no trace!
